The sun and moon ushered in their 31st Mid-Autumn Festival. The moon is brightest in one's hometown, and affection runs deepest there.
Every festive season intensifies the longing for home. We remember all those who have contributed to the sun and moon, both old and new friends. Wishing everyone a warm and happy holiday!
Those at Sun and Moon must always grasp the past, influence the present, and illuminate the future. We hope Sun and Moon will always maintain the spirit of its founding, influencing generation after generation of Sun and Moon people. We will encounter difficulties on the road ahead, but no matter how great the difficulties, we must persevere. Perseverance to the end is victory!
This year, Sun and Moon has spent a lot of time and energy studying Huawei. What are the results? Please share your thoughts!
Taking advantage of the Mid-Autumn Festival moon viewing, let's talk about what I know about Huawei. Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei once said, "I am Huawei's cultural instructor; I shaped Huawei's character: tenacious, pragmatic, silent, and honest..." In "Huawei's Winter," Ren Zhengfei hopes that all employees will be low-key and conscientious: "When society doesn't recognize you as a Huawei person, then you are a Huawei person. When society recognizes you as a Huawei person, you are not a Huawei person, because your cultivation is not yet complete."
Huawei employees often keep a mattress by their desks. They work overtime until very late, often using the mattress to sleep in the office. Sometimes they eat and live in the office, sometimes for more than ten days without going downstairs. Insiders say that the mattress culture represents Huawei's persistent spirit of struggle. In a conversation, Ren Zhengfei said proudly, "When the Saudi Arabian Minister of Commerce came to visit, he brought all his entourage to listen to our explanation of the purpose of the mattress. He believes that for a country to become strong, it must have such a spirit of struggle and hard work!"
Huawei headquarters once posted a slogan: Do simple things repeatedly, and you will become an expert; do repetitive things with care, and you will become a winner. A new employee wrote a "10,000-word letter" to Ren Zhengfei upon joining the company, full of enthusiasm. But Ren Zhengfei said at a meeting that he should resign. "Huawei will never promote someone without grassroots experience to a senior leadership position. Suggestions should be systematic and analytical; hasty suggestions are irresponsible and waste other people's time. Especially newcomers, don't start chattering right away. You need to analyze thoroughly and do things step by step, don't try to win popularity."
Ren Zhengfei is a "strict father," his word is law. In 1997, Huawei introduced IBM's processes and management system. This was an earthquake-like change, a difficult breakthrough in internal management. Those with power lost it, those with great power had less, and uncontrolled power was constrained. This management system was not initially implemented smoothly. At a mobilization meeting, Ren Zhengfei said sternly, "We must crack down on those who are half-baked and innovative, and eliminate those who are slack and unwilling to make progress... Those who have long failed to understand the essence of reform, please leave. We don't have lifetime employment!"
Ren Zhengfei is also a considerate "kind father." He talked with employees working in Africa, the theme being "cherishing life starts with oneself." If you encounter robbers, quickly "surrender without resistance." Life is the most important thing.
Huawei's products have leading technology, reliable quality, and always have backup plans for emergencies. Therefore, when faced with attacks from the United States, it not only remained unscathed but also moved forward with greater strides!
Huawei's management is strict. Inefficient managers are demoted, and redundant personnel are reduced. Ren Zhengfei told employees, "If you think you are not suitable for this position, you can step down and make way, allowing our 'tanks' to go to the battlefield. If you want to go to the battlefield, you can tie a rope to the 'tank' and drag it along. Everyone must have this determination." Ren Zhengfei reminded the teams creating new R&D projects that if they successfully find the right direction, they can be promoted. Or they can work hard on existing projects. If they cannot find a foothold for themselves in the company, they will face the risk of a salary reduction once every three months. Ren Zhengfei did this firstly to encourage everyone to make contributions, and secondly to quickly select outstanding personnel and increase the organization's 'vitality.'
We can learn from others' strengths. Having learned from Huawei, how should our Sun and Moon company proceed?
With the current global economic downturn, Sun and Moon is also experiencing the test of winter. August saw a sales slump, down 22% year-on-year. How will you take concrete actions to ensure accurate delivery and boost sales to overcome difficulties and survive the winter?
Recently, labor discipline at Sun and Moon has been lax, with an increasing trend of people preparing to eat and leave work early. Department heads should step up and avoid bearing joint responsibility! Compliance with regulations should be observed at all times, not only when mistakes are made and punishment is received.
The "Sun and Moon Employee Handbook" is Sun and Moon's fundamental law. It stipulates that all gifts or kickbacks should be turned over to the company, but now some people are keeping them for themselves. This must be rectified; otherwise, Sun and Moon will lose its fighting capacity.
We have safety hazards and quality hazards, and untimely delivery often leads to user complaints. Can't we see this? Learning from Huawei requires addressing problems, comparing ourselves, and putting it into practice to achieve real results!
